The B.S. Report Will Be Scaled-Down…For Awhile

A Message To Our Readers

Just a brief note of thanks to our many supporters.  We thank you for being here for us but the time has come for this blog to undergo a revision.  There will still be postings but the blog is going on a part-time schedule for awhile.  Changes in the personal life of our blog staff will demand more time for unrelated outside matters…which means less time for blogging.

Also, upon reflection, we’ve pretty much said everything we needed to say.  If you’re new to this blog and aren’t acquainted with our views…well, you can always read “About the B.S. Report” and that pretty much explains where we’re coming from.

In a nutshell, we are pro-freedom, pro-America, and very much for the founding principles of this country–in particular the idea of limited government.  We are alarmed at the growth of government at every level but we are even more discouraged by our fellow citizens who are willing to accept this infringement on their liberty.

The B.S. Report is intended to be fun, informational, and a place where we could rally fellow freedom-loving Americans to continue to push back against the out-of-control State.  To the extent that we’ve influenced some of our faithful readers, we are most grateful. We urge all of our readers to reevaluate their relationship with their government.  These people are answerable to us–not the other way around.

When we do return to a full-time schedule…and we will, the B.S. Report will be much improved.  There are so many things that we just never got around to because, well, to be perfectly honest, this blog grew very quickly!  And for that we’re very grateful to you.

All the best and our sincere thanks,

The B.S. Report Editorial Staff

Dan Rather Suit Against CBS Dismissed

Dan-Rather

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A New York state appeals court on Tuesday dismissed former TV newsman Dan Rather’s lawsuit against CBS Corp in which Rather claimed he was made a scapegoat in a scandal over a 2004 report on then-President George W. Bush’s military record.

The ruling on Tuesday by a panel of judges of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division said Rather’s $70 million complaint should be dismissed in its entirety and that a lower court erred in denying CBS’s motion to throw out the lawsuit.

Rather says CBS breached his contract by not giving him enough on-air assignments after he was removed as anchor of the “CBS Evening News” in March 2005.

The appeals court ruled he failed to sufficiently support his claim that he lost business opportunities due to CBS’s failure to release him to seek other employment.

Rather sued CBS, parent of the CBS television network, Viacom and others in September 2007, claiming he had been made a scapegoat to “pacify the White House.” CBS was part of Viacom until the companies split in 2006.

Hot Dog Thief Sentenced To 18 Months

pinks-dogs

WORCESTER (WBZ) ―18 months in prison – for stealing a hot dog.

That’s the punishment for Antonio Judd of Worcester.

He grabbed the hot dog from another man in Elm Park in August, after pulling what appeared to be a gun on him.

B.S.–Oh, so perhaps his sentence had something to do with pulling  a gun on someone…

It turns out it was a pellet gun.

Police reports say Judd began to devour the hot dog, spilling mustard all over his shirt.

B.S.–Did he get an extra few months for sloppiness?

They say when he was arrested later he was carrying a pellet gun and a pocket knife.

He pleaded guilty Monday in Worcester Central District Court to charges including larceny from a person.

Records show Judd has a long criminal history.

He’s already been to prison three times for several offenses, including assault and vandalism.

B.S. Report–This is how intellectually empty much of the mainstream press is…they act like this guy was sentenced for stealing a hot dog, and not for armed robbery.  The fact that the guy has a long rap sheet meant that he deserves jail time.

Little Oscar says that any robber that would stoop so low to steal a hot dog from someone should get the death penalty…

Intelligence Agencies Split On Iran Nuclear Capabilities

From the New York Times

Ahmadinejad_gives_finger5_(cartoon)

WASHINGTON – When President Obama stood last week with the leaders of Britain and France to denounce Iran’s construction of a secret nuclear plant, the Western powers all appeared to be on the same page.

Behind their show of unity about Iran’s clandestine efforts to manufacture nuclear fuel, however, is a continuing debate among American, European and Israeli spies about a separate component of Iran’s nuclear program: its clandestine efforts to design a nuclear warhead.

The Israelis, who have delivered veiled threats of a military strike, say they believe that Iran has restarted these “weaponization” efforts, which would mark a final step in building a nuclear weapon. The Germans say they believe that the weapons work was never halted. The French have strongly suggested that independent international inspectors have more information about the weapons work than they have made public.

Meanwhile, in closed-door discussions, American spy agencies have stood firm in their conclusion that while Iran may ultimately want a bomb, the country halted work on weapons design in 2003 and probably has not restarted that effort — a judgment first made public in a 2007 National Intelligence Estimate.

The debate, in essence, is a mirror image of the intelligence dispute on the eve of the Iraq war.

This time, United States spy agencies are delivering more cautious assessments about Iran’s clandestine programs than their Western European counterparts.  (Read more.)

B.S. Report–Our intelligence agency has determined that Iran has halted its weapons program.  And we all know that our intelligence is usually infallible.  But Israel, France, and Germany don’t believe that’s the case.  Forgetting about Israel for a moment, France and Germany can hardly be called “hawks.”

Until recently, no one even knew about Iran’s “other” nuclear facility so how confident can anyone be that they are not far more advanced in their attempts to develop a bomb?  Do we all wait for Israel to receive their nuclear blast before we decide that Iran’s nuclear program has advanced too far?  I don’t think Israel is ready to agree to those terms.  And can you blame them?

Olympic Ready? Chicago Gangland Violence Caught On Video

From Myfoxchicago.com

B.S. Report–So much of our politicians’ time is spent on things that are none of their business while so little time is spent on their actual Constitutionally-mandated duties.  Securing our neighborhoods and assuring the safety of its citizens is the number one responsibility of government.

And at this they fail miserably.  In just about any major city in the country there are areas where it is absolutely not safe to walk the streets–even during the day. Some areas are too dangerous for the police to enter without numbers.

German Voters Overwhelmingly Reject The Far Left

From the NYtimes.com

Even in the midst of one of the greatest challenges to capitalism in 75 years, involving a breakdown of the financial system due to “irrational exuberance,” greed and the weakness of regulatory systems, European Socialist parties and their left-wing cousins have not found a compelling response, let alone taken advantage of the right’s failures.

German voters clobbered the Social Democratic Party on Sunday, giving it only 23 percent of the vote, its worst performance since World War II.

Voters also punished left-leaning candidates in the summer’s European Parliament elections and trounced French Socialists in 2007. Where the left holds power, as in Spain and Britain, it is under attack. Where it is out, as in France, Italy and now Germany, it is divided and listless.

Some American conservatives demonize President Obama’s fiscal stimulus and health care overhaul as a dangerous turn toward European-style Socialism — but it is Europe’s right, not left, that is setting its political agenda.   (Read more.)

B.S. Report–It is extremely disingenuous of the Times to speak of the center-right in Europe as if it bears some resemblance to the center-right in America.  There really is no such thing as a “conservative” in Europe.  It’s just a liberal that is a little bit more fed up with the damage of liberalism.  In Europe, they are all liberals–just some are “scaled-back” liberals.  There is only so much you can do to unravel the ravages caused by a century of liberalism. Cutting a little bit of one’s incredibly onerous tax burden does not make you a center-rightist.

Yet President Obama yearns of taking us in the direction of decaying Europe…a direction where one segment of the population is being paid for or propped-up by the wealthier segment, inevitably fashioning a welfare state.

Obama demonizes the successful while rewarding the indigent.  He plays the class warfare card, acting as if the so-called rich achieved their success on the backs of the poor.  This man that many believed would unite the country is the most polarizing and divisive president in recent memory.

Person in a gorilla costume passing out bananas is racist…

From the Times and Democrat

gorilla with banana

A hospital employee dressed in a gorilla costume and passing out bananas to the sounds of “Hail to the Chief” may have been an effort to recognize employees for a job well done, but some Regional Medical Center trustees are calling the incident offensive and racist.

Trustees Betty Henderson and Dr. Oscar Butler Jr. called for greater sensitivity and diversity training opportunities on the part of hospital staff and employees to ensure a similar incident does not reoccur.

“I know in the beginning in six days God created the earth and on the seventh day he made man,” Henderson said. “I know how that man was made and he was made from clay. As a race, we are offended when men portray us as gorillas.”

Howard Harris, RMC vice president of human resources, said about a month to a month and a half ago the hospital’s 10-member Culture Club, which is made up of employees, decided to have an individual dress up in a gorilla costume to help recognize employee contributions and “boost employee morale” in the implementation and training process for the hospital’s new Cerner computer system, which will come online in December.

The outreach was titled, “We’re Bananas Over You.”

“We were not thinking there was an issue with regards to a concern of people being offended because of the racial implications with regards to that,” said Harris, himself African-American. “We heard about it and it came to our attention. Our position was that we needed to get out in front of it. That was inappropriate and should not have been done.”

The Culture Club, which is described by hospital officials as a diverse group, was formed in the spring of 2009 to implement initiatives of the hospital’s “The Regional Way,” including customer service training and employee recognition to enhance the hospital’s culture.

The incident in question was designed to recognize the Information Systems staff on “TeamRegIS,” which is working to ensure the success of the hospital’s computer conversion system.

The gorilla incident was part of several outreach efforts to these employees, including a lunch and popsicle delivery.  (Read more.)

B.S. Report–What’s happened to our country?  What a bunch of wimps that see racism behind every corner.  Lighten up and have a little sense of humor.   A person in a gorilla suit is funny–plain and simple.  It doesn’t have to be a racial issue.  Calm down.

Here’s another racist in action:

Singer Andy Williams No Fan Of Obama; “He Wants To Create A Socialist Country”

From The UK Telegraph

Andy-Williams-02

Williams, a lifelong Republican whose hits include Moon River and Music To Watch Girls By, told the Radio Times he thought Mr Obama wanted to turn the US into a “socialist country”.

The 81-year-old was a friend of the Kennedy family during the 1960s and was present at the Los Angeles rally where Robert F Kennedy was assassinated in 1968.

“I was very close to Bobby and he asked me to be a delegate for him when he ran for president,” he said.

“He knew about me being a Republican, but just laughed and said, ‘Sign yourself in as a Democrat and then change back afterwards’. Sadly, I never got to do that.

“I was very close to Teddy Kennedy, too, and his death recently brought it all back. What a tragedy. Had he lived, I think Bobby would have been a great president.”

But Williams had a less favourable opinion of the current president.

“Don’t like him at all,” he said, “I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist.

“Obama is following Marxist theory. He’s taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail.”

Politicians, media personalities and conservative activists have accused the US president of espousing socialist ideas.

Earlier this month, Jim Greer, the chairman of the Republican Party in Florida, said he was “absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology”, after the US leader appeared in a televised address to be shown in classrooms around the country.

Quote Of The Day: Alexander Solzhenitsyn

“Such as it is, the press has become the greatest power within the Western World, more powerful than the legislature, the executive and judiciary. One would like to ask: by whom has it been elected, and to whom is it responsible?”
