Shades Of “The Godfather,” …Man Delivers Toy Horse Head To State Senator

WENONAH, N.J., Jan. 29 (UPI) — Police in New Jersey say they are still investigating a man charged with delivering a toy horse head to a state senator.

Robert Godman, 61, of Wenonah, N.J., was arrested at the home he shares with his parents Thursday and charged with harassment after a man hand-delivered a package to state Sen. Stephen Sweeney that was found to contain the head of a plush horse, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday. The incident appeared a likely allusion to the classic cinematic scene in “The Godfather,” in which a horse’s head was used as a death threat by the Mafia.  (Read more.)

British Gangster Runs Criminal Operation From Prison Using “Facebook”

ONE of Britain’s most dangerous gangsters has been using Facebook to threaten and intimidate his enemies from a maximum security prison.

Colin Gunn, an underworld godfather who ordered the execution of two grandparents, has been able to correspond freely with up to 565 “friends” on the social networking site for the past two months.

Gunn, a “double-A” category inmate who is serving a 35-year sentence for conspiracy to murder, is said to be still running his drugs and organised crime cartel from jail. He claims he was allowed to set up a Facebook account by prison governors, suggesting it was his legal right.  (Read more.)

B.S. Report–I can’t quite figure out how an inmate would have a legal right to use Facebook.  Humane treatment while in prison seems to me to be the only “right” an inmate is entitled to. That is, unless, of course,  he’s a member of al-Qaeda–they’re entitled to just about anything…

And isn't it insane to allow hard-core criminals access to computers?

Actor Rip Torn Arrested For Breaking Into Bank With Loaded Handgun

SALISBURY, Conn. – Actor Elmore “Rip” Torn has been arrested for breaking into a Salisbury bank and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.

Connecticut state police said the 78-year-old Salisbury resident was arrested Friday night after police found him inside the Litchfield Bancorp with a loaded revolver.

The “Men in Black” actor was taken into custody and booked on numerous criminal charges, including burglary and possession of firearm without a permit.

He was held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled for a Monday appearance in Bantam Superior Court.

Last year, Torn was given probation in a Connecticut drunken driving case and granted permission to enter an alcohol education program. He also has two previous drunken driving arrests in New York.

A spokesman for Torn did not immediately return phone calls.

B.S. Report–Rip Torn has major issues…but I still think his role as “Artie” on the “Larry Sanders Show” was one of the greatest characters of all time…

Indonesian Government To Sell Tigers To Individuals

In what is being billed as an effort to protect the endangered species, the government of Indonesia is allowing those with expendable income to purchase tigers to keep as pets.

In order to own one of these majestic cats you must have one billion rupiah, or £67,000 just lying around, as well five square kilometers of land upon which to house the animal.

Despite opposition from several environmental groups who feel this is nothing more than an attempt by the Indonesian government to make money, government officials have stated that all of the tigers will be monitored regularly to ensure they are being treated properly. If they catch any mistreatment, the owners will be severely punished in the forms of fines or jail time.  (Read more.)

Tranquilized Bear Not So Sleepy After All; Chases Man

A man who shot a marauding bear with a tranquilizer gun had an almighty scare when the beast awoke as he approached, and proceeded to attack him.

The female bear had been injected with a sleep-inducing drug after it appeared near the village of Chorzow in Poland.

Unfortunately for the rangers tasked with capturing the animal, it woke up from its apparent slumber as they came near and gave chase to the man who had shot it.  (Read more.)
