John Edwards’s Ex-Mistress Trying To Suppress Sex Tape

JANUARY 29–John Edwards’s ex-mistress is seeking to suppress what appears to be a sex tape featuring her and the disgraced politician, according to court records. Rielle Hunter yesterday secured a restraining order against a former Edwards aide in connection with “a personal video recording that depicted matters of a very private and personal nature.”

Andrew Young, the ex-Edwards assistant, has said he is in possession of a tape showing Edwards having sex with a woman he believes to be Hunter, who gave birth to Edwards’s daughter Frances Quinn in February 2008. According to an affidavit filed yesterday in North Carolina Superior Court, Hunter reported that she was having an “intimate relationship” with Edwards in 2006, and that the video was made around September of that year.  (Read more.)

The full story is this:

(1) The Citizens United case dealt with a blanket ban on corporate expenditures. The Court struck down the ban, which is part of 2 USC 441b.

(2) A separate section of the law, 2 USC 441e, prohibits “foreign nationals” from making expenditures or contributions. “Foreign nationals” includes corporations that are not incorporated or headquartered in the United States. This is an extremely broad prohibition that applies to any U.S. election (including state and local elections) and to any activity “in connection with” an election. The Citizens United ruling doesn’t touch this prohibition and specifically notes that it makes no judgment about foreign corporations.  (Read more.)

The young pledge said she was told the beatings would “humble” her, that each flesh-rending strike with a wooden paddle would build love and trust between sorority sisters.

It wasn’t hazing, she said they told her. The women of Sigma Gamma Rho at Rutgers University didn’t condone hazing.

For seven nights the beatings went on, she said. In all, she was struck 201 times. On the eighth day — unable to sit, her buttocks covered with blood clots and welts — she went to the hospital. Then she reported it to the university.

Today, Rutgers police said they had arrested six members of the sorority on charges of aggravated hazing, alleging they repeatedly beat at least three pledges between Jan. 18 and Jan. 25. A university official, vice president of student affairs Greg Blimling, and the pledge who spoke to The Star-Ledger put the number of victims at seven.  (Read more.)

Bin Laden Hops On The Global Warming Bandwagon; Calls For World To Boycott U.S. Goods

CAIRO (AP) – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.

In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.

He says the world should “stop consuming American products” and “refrain from using the dollar,” according to a transcript on Al-Jazeera’s Web site.

The new message, whose authenticity could not immediately be confirmed, comes after a bin Laden tape released last week in which he endorsed a failed attempt to blow up an American airliner on Christmas Day.

B.S. Report–I’ve now changed my mind about global warming…I mean, if Osama’s on the pro-global warming side, it must be the truth.  Will those believers now be quoting bin Laden when they talk about the science behind global warming?

Women Falsely Accuse Man Of Rape Because They Didn’t Enjoy The Sex

JANUARY 28–Two Tennessee women who accused a man of rape have admitted to cops that they had consensually agreed to sex with him in exchange for a pack of cigarettes. One woman told investigators that the duo filed a phony police report because they “didn’t enjoy the sex,” according to cops. Jessica Kathleen Alexander, 18, and Tammy Nicole Ortega, 29, were arrested today for filing a false police report.  (Read more.)

B.S. Report–Wow, these women are evil little skanks.  I mean, they got their cigarettes, didn’t they?  He did fulfill his end of the bargain.  If women could throw us guys in jail for giving them bad sex there wouldn’t be an empty prison cell in the world.

Girl Sentenced To State Prison For Beating Adoptive Mother to Death

SAN DIEGO (AP) —  A San Diego girl who admitted beating her adoptive mother to death with a claw hammer when she was 14 has been given 16 years to life in state prison.

Sixteen-year-old Heather Marie D’Aoust was sentenced Wednesday in Superior Court.

Prosecutors say D’Aoust, who has serious psychological problems, stuck her adoptive mother at least 15 times with the hammer in the kitchen of their Scripps Ranch home in May 2008.  (Read more.)

A 61-year-old man slugged a store manager over seafood Monday afternoon, police said.

Perkins police arrested Ralph Barr, 61, 1000 block Tiffin Ave., for assault and criminal damaging after he repeatedly punched Kroger store manager Monte Erwin, 44, in a dispute over the price of crab cakes.  (Read more.)

School District Bans Dictionary Over Definition

A California school district has added a new book to the controversial list of literature that is considered unfit for young eyes.

It’s the dictionary.

The Golden State’s Menifee Union School District has yanked all copies of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary from its shelves and is investigating the classic American text for containing “age-inappropriate” words.  (Read more.)

B.S. Report–It’s very difficult to get kids to use a dictionary…it kind of seems a shame to ban it.

Teens Escape Juvenile Program In Stolen Fire Truck

WEST SUMMERLAND KEY, Fla. (AP) —  Two 17-year-olds fled from a juvenile diversion program at a Florida Keys campground in a stolen firetruck.

The teens have been arrested and charged with grand theft auto. The truck belonged to the chief of the Big Pine Key Fire Department.  (Read more.)
