Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.
Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government’s become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree. (Read more.)
President Obama pledged to “listen” at the outset of his much-ballyhooed bipartisan health care summit on Thursday. Turns out he meant he’d be listening to his own voice.
By the end of the televised event, Mr. Obama had spoken for 119 minutes – nine minutes more than the 114 minutes consumed by 17 Republicans. The 21 Democratic lawmakers used 114 minutes, giving the president and his supporters a whopping 233 minutes, according to a “talk clock” kept by GOP aides. (Read more.)
B.S. Report–What a farce! I was fairly sure that no good could come of this spectacle and the Republicans should not even attend it, but now I think I was wrong. Obama came off as petty, unprepared and unpresidential as he tried to use debating tactics like dominating the microphone and getting the last word even when he did allow Republicans to speak. But it was so dull I doubt that anyone watched it anyway.
Obama alone spoke for 119 minutes while Republicans spoke for 114, but it was the Republicans who were informed and prepared. They actually had studied the bill and the President seems to have no clue as to what’s in it or what it will do. He even had the audacity to criticize Rep. Eric Cantor for bringing in the 2,400 page bill and quoting from it–he dismissed the bill as a “prop.” This whole conference and debate is about that “prop.”
For the Democrats, this isn’t about doing what the American people want, it’s about government power and gaining control over 1/6th of our nation’s economy. Polls show that voters have already overwhelmingly rejected this plan yet Democrats insist on pushing it through anyway.
At the end of the day Democrats own this bill. They don’t need Republicans to pass it. They have the votes to pass it themselves. It doesn’t matter to Obama whether that means political suicide and losing both houses come November. It would be well worth it to them if it means they get their clutches on health care.
(AP)TACOMA, Wash. - Pierce County prosecutors filed a charge of unlawful public exposure against a 19-year-old barista accused of wearing only a thong bottom and X-shaped pasties on her nipples. Prosecutors filed the misdemeanor charge Tuesday against the woman who worked at the Bikini Bottoms espresso stand in Puyallup. A passer-by had complained last October about seeing the woman topless.
When a sheriff’s deputy went to investigate the woman went to the back of the stand, took off the pasties and put on a bikini top.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reported the deputy confiscated the pasties as evidence.
"Yuck! The coffee better be damn good because you are a tremendous disappointment!"
(AP)COLUMBUS, Ga. - Police in Georgia are searching for a pair of hungry bandits who stole an order of chicken wings from a pizza delivery driver.
Columbus Police say the 19-year-old Domino’s driver was approached outside a home Tuesday night by two men who asked for money. One of the men pointed a chrome pistol.
Police say one of the men then said, “give me the wings.” They fled the scene with the $36 order.
No cash was taken and the driver was not injured.
"It was a terrifying ordeal! They kidnapped me at gunpoint...and then they ate me!"
I was pretty broken up last year when the animal world lost one of the true giants, Gibson the Great Dane.
Gib had been battling bone cancer, but before he passed on he managed to “write” a book and rub paws with Oprah, Jay Leno, Paris Hilton, and other alpha dogs.
Now, there’s a new top dog: Giant George, a Great Dane who’s not just the world’s tallest dog, but the tallest dog ever measured in history, according to my friends at Guinness World Records.
Gibson sleeps in his own queen-sized bed and goes through 110 pounds of dog food a month.
He’s also got his own Web site, a Facebook fan club and Twitter account.
See George up close and other record holders in my special New World Records photo gallery.

SHOPPERS fled in terror today after a giant aquarium filled with 400 SHARKS and stingrays cracked and began gushing torrents of water.
Horrified holidaymakers were among those left fearing that they were about to be engulfed by 10MILLION gallons of water — holding 33,000 sea creatures.
Dramatic video captured people fleeing the Dubai Mall as water poured on to the floor. (Read more.)
B.S. Report–I would think there should be a lot more terror on the part of a shark or a stingray than a person. Unless, of course, these are “land sharks.”
MSNBC’s “Countdown” show host, Keith Olbermann, recently claimed that today’s “federal budget debt” is “far less than it was throughout the Reagan administration.” He also said it is “about the same as it was in 1970.” Is he right? Tonight’s countdown:
10) What is a “federal budget debt”? No researcher, intern or night security guard told him that there is no such thing? No one fact checked him before he went on-air? Add this to the ever-growing catalog of Olbermann’s greatest hits kept by the indispensable NewsBusters.org.
9) There is a federal (or national) debt. There is an annual federal budget deficit. (Read more.)
