Boycott Worries: Arizona Iced Tea Releases Statement That Their Headquarters Is New York

WOODBURY, N.Y., April 29 (UPI) — The manufacturers of AriZona Iced Tea released a statement saying their headquarters is in New York, not Arizona, to head off boycott talk.

Don Vultaggio, founder of the beverage company, released a statement Wednesday asking people not to project their anger about Arizona’s new law — which gives police the right to demand citizenship papers from anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant — onto his company, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

“AriZona Beverages proudly traces its origins back to New York,” Vultaggio said. “In 1992, two hardworking guys from Brooklyn with a dream created AriZona Iced Tea.”

“Since then … we have remained loyal to our family-run business based in New York. For the last 16 years, our headquarters have remained on Long Island,” he said.

Comedian George Lopez joked on Twitter this week that he “went to buy an AriZona Iced Tea — they asked me for my documentation. So I bought HORCHATA instead!”

Company officials replied on Twitter Thursday: “We’re BIG fans! Just wanted to let you know that AriZona is and always has been a NY company and would (heart) to send you some tea!”

B.S. Report–Thanks for the heads-up Arizona Iced Tea!  I was thinking about buying some to support Arizona but now I’ll buy something else that’s actually made in Arizona…

Shot Down!…Patrick Kennedy Cut Off At D.C. Bar After 6 Vodka Shots

Actions speak louder than words: Hard-partying JFK relative Rep. Patrick Kennedy was caught slamming so many vodka shots that the bartender cut him off — just hours after giving a speech where he discussed his longtime substance abuse woes, Roll Call’s Heard on the Hill blog reported today.

The Rhode Island Democrat reportedly entered the Capitol Lounge in Washington DC at 11 Tuesday night — a few hours after giving a speech at a local charity that helps homeless women — and knocked back six shots of straight vodka before the bartender refused round seven.

At one point Kennedy, who is not seeking re-election this year, declared Barack Obama “the best president ever,” according to the blog’s tipster.

When he was reminded of his uncle, John F. Kennedy, the site reported a merry Kennedy slapped the back of the observer and replied, “Oh yeah! Good one!”  (Read more.)

President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve the reputation he’s had for his style and temperament and for being gracious, civil, bipartisan and post-racial. He is often ungracious, uncivil, hyper-partisan, race-oriented and vindictive. He mocks and ridicules almost for sport.  More than any president in my memory, he often does not comport himself presidentially.

Why does this matter? Well – if I even have to answer that – he is the face of America. The left constantly talked about George W. Bush’s swagger and his cowboy diplomacy and how that damaged our “image” in the world and our relations with other nations.

But George W. Bush was nothing if not circumspect, discreet and respectful in his dealings with foreign leaders and his dealings with his political opponents. He was exceedingly presidential, demonstrating an extremely high respect for the office he held and what it represented.  (Read more.)
