NFL Game Of The Day Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers At New Orleans Saints (-1)

From CBS Sports  (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

Considering they followed up both of their championships in the past five years by missing the playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers are no strangers to the supposed Super Bowl hangover.

The New Orleans Saints might be the latest team to feel its effects.

Turnovers have plagued Drew Brees and the Saints’ suddenly stalled offense, a slump that could be tough to shake Sunday night against the visiting Steelers in a showdown of the past two Super Bowl champions.

Pittsburgh (5-1) finished 8-8 in 2006, a season after winning Super Bowl XL, and didn’t make the playoffs again the year after its victory in Super Bowl XLIII.   (Read more.)

NFL Preview: Tennessee Titans At San Diego Chargers (-5)

From CBS Sports  (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

The Tennessee Titans used an amazing fourth quarter to bounce back from a nine-point deficit last weekend and claim first place in the AFC South.

As is becoming their custom, the San Diego Chargers’ latest frantic comeback attempt fell just short.

Two teams headed in opposite directions meet Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium, where the bumbling Chargers try to avoid a fourth straight loss against a Titans team seeking a fourth consecutive win – and its first victory over San Diego in nearly two decades.   (Read more.)

NFL Preview: Green Bay Packers At New York Jets (-6)

From CBS Sports  (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

The New York Jets are emerging from their bye refreshed and healthy. The Green Bay Packers appear to be anything but.

The Jets will try to capitalize on the injury-riddled Packers and extend their winning streak to six for the first time in 12 years at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday.

New York (5-1) entered its bye two weeks ago with a 24-20 win at Denver thanks to two fourth-quarter touchdowns by LaDainian Tomlinson. The victory was the club’s fifth in a row after opening the season with a 10-9 loss to Baltimore.

The Jets’ last six-game winning streak came at the end of the 1998 season when they finished with a franchise-best 12 wins.   (Read more.)

College Football Game Of The Day: #2Oregon Ducks (-7) At #24USC

From CBS Sports  (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Top-ranked Oregon took the weekend off after its Thursday night pounding of UCLA, although it didn’t seem like many of the Ducks were going to distance themselves too much from football.

There was a sense of anticipation to get on with the rest of the season with just five games remaining and the stakes rising. The Ducks travel to Southern California this Saturday.

“It is our next game, so of course it is our biggest game of the season,” said Oregon tight end David Paulson. “USC has great athletes on both sides of the ball that we have to prepare for.”

The Ducks are always quick to mention that they’re unconcerned with the rankings, but for the record Oregon was No. 1 in the AP Top 25 on Sunday for the second week in a row.   (Read more.)

College Football Preview: #5Michigan State Spartans At #18Iowa Hawkeyes (-6′)

From CBS Sports (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – For the second straight season, an unheralded Big Ten team is undefeated in late October, its fans dreaming of a conference championship – and maybe more.

Last year, that team was Iowa, and this time it’s Michigan State, so perhaps it’s fitting that the fifth-ranked Spartans will put their perfect record on the line against the 18th-ranked Hawkeyes in Iowa City this weekend.

“The next step is probably what we thought going into the season, one of our bigger challenges: going on the road to play at Iowa,” Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said. “They win the right way. I think they win with execution.”   (Read more.)

College Football Preview: #7 Missouri Tigers At #14Nebraska Cornhuskers (-7′)

CBS Sports  (Pics and video added by B.S. Report)

Missouri didn’t spend much time reveling in one of its biggest victories in school history. Knowing who was next on the schedule probably had something to do with that.

After clinching their best start in 50 years, the No. 7 Tigers will try to stay unbeaten when they travel to 14th-ranked Nebraska in the schools’ final matchup as Big 12 rivals Saturday.

Missouri (7-0, 3-0) knocked off one nemesis last Saturday with a 36-27 upset of then-BCS leading Oklahoma. While Tigers coach Gary Pinkel gave his team one day to bask in that victory, he admitted to already thinking about the Cornhuskers hours after beating the Sooners.

“There will be some more distractions since we won that game. We expected that,” defensive back Carl Gettis said. “It was a good win, but it’s over with now. It’s time to move on and get ready for Nebraska.”   (Read more.)
