Maybe this is why Mariano Rivera has been coy about his retirement plans.
They certainly didn’t include a torn ACL, which almost certainly ends the season for the Yankees closer and changes the tone of the speculation about whether this really was to be his final season. That’s the MRI result Yankees manager Joe Girardi relayed to reporters after Thursday’s 4-3 loss in Kansas City. Rivera will be evaluated again Friday in New York. (Read more.)
