DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A local pizza chain that made waves in 2007 for accepting Mexican Pesos for payment has come up with a new way to generate some buzz for itself, offering free pizza to anyone who orders in Spanish.

Dallas-based Pizza Patron will be offering free pizza on June 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to anyone who places their order in Spanish. (Read more.)

Last year they had a “Pizza for Pesos” promotion.

B.S. Report–The owners say the promotion is their way of pointing out the contributions that immigrants have made in the United States. Personally, I think Americans are quite aware of those contributions and, at this point, don’t need them pointed out. But they have the right to free speech in our country and they can make this political statement, even through their business if they choose.

I don’t know if this type of promotion does more harm than good because, once again, it divides Americans into separate groups. I’m in favor of “one America,” where immigrants (legal) as well as all native-born citizens embrace the principles that make/made America different from all other places. That would be an unsurpassed degree of liberty protected by Constitutional government.

If all people in the U.S. would simply embrace a return to the founding principles of our nation we would all be better off. It’s America’s ideals backed up by the Constitution which makes America “exceptional,” not “diversity” or other thinking that only ends up balkanizing peoples as it has in so many other nations.

Me, I’ll stick with Numero Uno–great pizza, no politics.
