British Eco-Nut Says 2 Children Should Be The Limit…

Two Children Should Be The Limit Says Green Guru

COUPLES who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.

A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.

“I am unapologetic about asking people to connect up their own responsibility for their total environmental footprint and how they decide to procreate and how many children they think are appropriate,” Porritt said. (More of his nutty views here.)

I agree with him...but isn't two kids too many? I'm leaning one, or none.

I agree with him...but isn't two kids too many? I'm leaning one.

B.S. Report–The problem is not the amount of children, certainly not in most places on Earth, and definitely not here in the U.S.  We have the ability and resources to support a much larger population.

No, the problem is people who have children that do not have the ability and commitment to feed, house and educate them.  Having children should be a planned decision.  If you, as a couple, are unable financially to responsibly bring a child into the world, then you should wait until you can.  By the way, human beings are resources, too.  When we limit them, we are also stunting society’s creativity and intellectual growth.

Bugs…The New Weapon Of Choice For Ecoterrorists?

"I must destroy you...for the good of the planet."

"I must destroy you...for the good of the planet."

Insects Can Be A Devastating Weapon

The terrorists’ letter arrived at the Mayor of Los Angeles’s office on November 30, 1989. A group calling itself “the Breeders” claimed to have released the Mediterranean fruit fly in Los Angeles and Orange counties, and threatened to expand their attack to the San Joaquin Valley, an important centre of Californian agriculture.

With perverse logic, they said that unless the Government stopped using pesticides they would assure a cataclysmic infestation that would lead to the quarantining of California produce, costing 132,000 jobs and $13.4 billion in lost trade.

The infestation was real enough. It was ended by heavy spraying. It is still not known if ecoterrorists were behind it, but the panic it engendered shows that “the Breeders” were flirting with a powerful weapon.

The history and future of insects as weapons are explored in my new book, Six-Legged Soldiers. As an entomologist, I was initially interested in how human beings have conscripted insects and twisted science for use in war, terrorism and torture. It soon became apparent that the weaponisation of insects was not some quirky military footnote but a recurring theme in human strife, and quite possibly the next chapter in modern conflicts.  (Read More Here.)

B.S. Report–And these are people that claim to “love” the planet. One thing is certain:  they hate human beings.

Freedom Quote Of The Day

Groundhog Says: 6 More Weeks of Winter…

Phil Sees Shadow; Winter To Continue

Punxsutawney, PA (AP) The world’s most famous groundhog saw his shadow Monday morning, predicting this already long winter will last for six more weeks.

Punxsutawny Phil emerged just after dawn in front of an estimated 13,000 witnesses, many dressed in black-and-gold to celebrate the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Super Bowl victory the night before.

“There’s significant buzz from the Steelers win and quite a few Terrible Towels floating from the crowd,” said Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary for tourism in Pennsylvania.

The annual ritual takes place on Gobbler’s Knob, a tiny hill in Punxsutawney, a borough of about 6,100 residents some 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. (More.)

Global Warming “Photo Of The Day”…Snowy Britain

Global warming continues to devastate the world...this time giving Britain heaviest snowfall in 20 years.

Global warming continues to devastate the world...this time giving Britain heaviest snowfall in 20 years.

That Global Warming Is One “Cool” Customer!

The heaviest snowfall in 20 years has closed thousands of schools and caused transport chaos up the eastern side of Britain, with London and the surrounding areas the hardest hit.

Six million bus passengers were left in the lurch as all London’s bus services were halted because of dangerous driving conditions, and every Tube line except the Victoria line was at least partially suspended.

Many mainline commuter rail services were also cancelled or seriously delayed, and flights at London’s airports were decimated, with both of Heathrow’s runways shut, Luton and London City closed, and Gatwick and Stansted flights subject to delays and short-notice cancellations. (More.)

Federal Workforce Continues To Grow

Washington (AP)  Companies are cutting jobs by the tens of thousands.  State and local governments are penny-pinching, too.  So what about “Uncle Sam?” Tough times for him as well?

Not exactly.

In fact the number of federal workers is on the rise.

That might seem strange to the 11 million people in the U.S. who are out of work – and the millions more who fear they soon will be.  Shouldn’t Washington pare down too?

But it is unlikely that President Barack Obama will put any of the nearly 2 million federal civil servants out in the street in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. His proposed $800-plus billion economic aid plan, which includes heavy spending on public works, is expected to increase the ranks of federal workers, although mostly at the state and local level. (More.)

B.S. Report–Oh No! Department

“Federal belt-tightening would worsen the problem right now,” said Kevin Hassett, director of economic policy at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.  “Most economists agree that the government is a built-in stabilizer,” says Hassett, a former advisor to GOP presidential campaigns.

Some stabilizer!  Yikes!  And that guy’s a conservative economist? There’s never a “right” time to cut government…Keynesism is back in a big way!

Study: Baby Chimps Are As Smart as Human Infants… (But Much Brighter Than Politicians)…

Baby Chimps Are As Bright As Human Infants

CHIMPANZEES have long been known for their ability to mimic humans. Now scientists have found that baby chimps’ mental development can even be more advanced than children of the same age.

At nine months, the animals are just as curious and capable of recognising carers and familiar objects as the average baby. When compared with infants kept in isolated conditions in orphanages, the animals are even more advanced.

The scientists who carried out the research believe their research also provides valuable evidence that chimpanzees, like humans, thrive on social interaction. The more intimate their contact with their carers, the faster their brains develop.

Chimpanzees share about 96% of their DNA with humans. An adult chimp’s level of intelligence has been likened to that of a three-year-old child.  Read More Here.

Funny…We Have To Go To The Czech Republic For Common Sense On Global Warming…

Czech President doubts global warming, doesn't like the EU, is for free markets...I like this guy!

Czech President doubts global warming, doesn't like the EU; is for free markets...I like this guy!

It’s so rare to find a politician with the guts to say something against the leadership of the environmental movement, or against whatever the liberal media brands as the “right way to think.”  But the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus apparently is a lot less wimpy than our politicians.

He is an economist by training, and he says that he is more worried about the repercussions of the policies advocated to “fix” global warming than global warming itself.  He even takes on the lead guru, “Amazing” Al Gore.

Vaclav Klaus Takes On Global Warming and Al Gore

Czech President Vaclav Klaus took aim at climate change campaigner Al Gore on Saturday in Davos in a frontal attack on the science of global warming.

“I don’t think that there is any global warming,” said the 67-year-old liberal, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union. “I don’t see the statistical data for that.”

Referring to the former US vice president, who attended Davos this year, he added: “I’m very sorry that some people like Al Gore are not ready to listen to the competing theories. I do listen to them.

“Environmentalism and the global warming alarmism is challenging our freedom. Al Gore is an important person in this movement.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, he said that he was more worried about the reaction to the perceived dangers than the consequences.

“I’m afraid that the current crisis will be misused for radically constraining the functioning of the markets and market economy all around the world,” he said.

“I’m more afraid of the consequences of the crisis than the crisis itself.”

Klaus makes no secret of his climate change scepticism — he is also a fierce critic of the European Union — and has branded the world’s top panel of climate experts, the UN’s IPCC, a smug monopoly.
